Infant Developmental Goals
1. Gross Motor Development – (uses arms, legs and torso – Large Muscles) He/she will start to hold his/her head and chest up. Your baby will learn to roll over. Your baby will start to maneuver his/her body so that he/she can crawl on his/her stomach. Your baby will start to sit on his/her own, then will start to pull up to stand.
2. Fine Motor Development – (uses hands, fingers and hand-eye control – Small Muscles) Your baby learns to hold small toys and rattles when given to him/her. He/she will pass an object from one hand to the other. He/she will start using the pincer motion to pick up small items. Will bring things to his/her mouth.
3. Language Development – (uses voice to make a variety of sounds – imitates sounds – developing communication skills) Your baby will be spoken to throughout his/her waking hours and music will be on all the time. Stories will be read throughout the day and age appropriate books will be available for touching and for looking. Most common sounds will be “ba, ca, da, ma”, etc.
4. Cognitive Development – (acquiring and using information) Your baby learns to look in the direction of a sound. Your baby starts to recognize you and differentiates between persons in his/her daily life. Your baby brings an object to his/her mouth. Your baby follows an object after it falls. Your baby starts sorting and matching.
5. Social and Emotional Development – (developing self-awareness and communication) Your child learns to focus on a face and responds to the familiar voice with a smile. Your baby hands an object to another person or makes a sound to get that person’s attention. Your baby will smile when another person smiles. Your baby will touch another baby or smile at or talk to him/herself in a mirror.

Toddlers Developmental Goals
1. Gross Motor Development – (uses arms, legs and torso – Large Muscle) Your child will participate in many motor movement activities such as jumping, running, rolling, walking, waving, dancing and climbing. Your child will be encouraged to use balls for throwing and rolling, small tricycles, pushing toys and carriages. The teacher will introduce circle games and give instructions on directions such as up, down, under, over, in, out, etc.
2. Fine Motor Development – (uses hands, fingers, and hand-eye control – Small Muscles)The teacher will introduce age appropriate manipulatives such as large beads for stringing, puzzles, large pegs, sorting boxes, etc. They will be encouraged to use spoons and cups at lunch and snack. The use of crayons and paint brushes and finger paints will be explored daily.
3. Language Development – (uses words, short sentences and developing listening skills) Your child will be encouraged to use words to communicate. Stories and poems will be read frequently and books for browsing will always be available. Pretend and dramatic play will be an essential part of the curriculum.
4. Cognitive Development – (acquiring and using information) Your child will learn about the world around him/her by recognizing familiar objects and being introduced to new people and places. The teacher will encourage the recognition of colors and shapes. Math will be introduced through sorting, matching, patterning and sequencing. He/she will start to become more familiar with the parts of the body. Your child will learn about weather and seasons and enjoy simple science and cooking projects.
5. Social and Emotional Development – (developing self-awareness and communication) In this class your child will be introduced to simple rules and how to follow simple directions. Positive, self-discipline techniques will be introduced. Your child will take on simple responsibilities and respond to praise. Although still in parallel play, he/she will learn to respect their peer’s space and achievements.
Preschool / PreKindergarten Developmental Goals
1. Gross Motor Development – (use of large muscles) Your child’s motor skills will become more defined during the next few years. We will provide the children with many opportunities to increase their coordination. They will participate in games and activities such as climbing, jumping, hopping, swinging, throwing, catching, exercising and dancing.
2. Fine Motor Development – (use of small muscles) To increase the strength in your child’s hands and to further their hand-eye coordination, your child will consistently use scissors, pencils, crayons, small pegs, and string smaller beads. He/she will explore constructing with small blocks and a variety of manipulatives and art materials. They will be introduced to the proper way to hold a pencil and crayon and encouraged to use them in preparation for future writing experiences.
3. Language Development – (increase vocabulary and expression) Your child will be encouraged to use language to describe experiences and feelings. The children will be asked to speak in full sentences, to ask questions and focus on listening. Many books will be available to them.
4. Cognitive Development – (acquiring and using information) We will expand your child’s “frame of reference” through many exciting, educational experiences. He/she will recognize the alphabet phonetically and number symbols, which will lead to successful pre-reading and math skills. Computers will be used to reinforce learning. Learning will be in the areas of science, health and safety, cooking and dramatic play as well as math, social studies and reading.
5. Social and Emotional Development – (social-awareness and a positive self-esteem) Your preschooler will continue to learn acceptable behavioral guidelines and respect the feelings and the property of others. He/she will learn to share and to cooperate while developing self-control. While they are learning to respect others they will become more independent and caring human beings.
